🤷🏻‍♂️ “Affect” or “Effect”? A Simple Trick to Remember the Difference 🧠

“Affect” and “effect” are so simple that they do not appear in any vocabulary books or standardized test guides. But if the Internet is any indication, the world would be an emptier space if people’s lives depended on whether they could tell the difference between the two words.

For the sake of preserving our species, here is the difference:

FACT: 99% of people won’t ever have to use “affect” as a noun.

FACT: There is no real advantage to using “effect” as a verb. There are numerous verbs that mean the same thing.


💡 Here’s an easy way to remember the difference between those two tricky words:

 RAVEN will let you down ONLY when you have to use “affect” as a noun and “effect” as a verb, i.e., rarely. (And there are easy ways to avoid using those tricky words.)
